Cannon Beach, Oregon.

The Oregon Coast.

We took a spur-of-the-moment weekend trip in March to Cannon Beach, Oregon and it was exactly what my soul needed. It reminded me that winter doesn't last forever and eventually here, the crisp, gray days will given way to mystical warm evenings with all the good things: white wine on a patio, camping, going barefoot, and being outside late in the day because it's still light out!

We rushed around to get all the campfire basics and set up a spot on Cannon Beach for our campfire, complete with red wine, hot dogs and smores! Yes, there are red wines that pair well with hot dogs and that smoky campfire taste. Only a gentle breeze, which Wade got mad at me for mentioning how perfect the weather is, thinking I'd jinx it hah.

Those famous Cannon Beach rocks!

We stayed at the Inn at Cannon Beach and it was within walking distance to the beach, and some shops- coffee and a grocery store. However, at this place, you never need to leave. They always have fresh baked cookies at the counter- good ones, might I add. And the infused fruit water they serve is so refreshing! The best part? They have wild bunnies that roam free on the grounds. Just leave me here.

The next morning we woke up, had a great breakfast at the Inn, packed up and headed out to explore the town and exfoliate our toes on the beach. Cannon Beach really is a super picturesque, small town and has that quaint beach town feel to it. Since we came in the spring, it wasn't totally overtaken by other beach-goers and made for a relaxing weekend.

Cannon Beach is home to Pelican Brewing, where we stopped in for lunch. They have outdoor seating and a beautiful ocean mural on the wall of the restaurant. Our waiter told us that Cannon Beach has no open-container law so you can enjoy their brews, or some adult beverages while sun-bathing, or on a sunset stroll. You're welcome.

This weekend trip rejuvenated me, nothing like the misty, cool air and the sound of the ocean to lull you into a relaxed state of mind. The ocean can wash away anything bothering us about work and the daily routine.

March 2018.
